Throughout history the United States has been involved in many different wars. Their involvement has brought forth many significant events and changes that have affected the American way of life. I will briefly discuss the events and the United States involvement in World War I and World War II. I will give a brief overview of both wars and explain exactly how and why the United States joined in each. The term First World War was first used in 1914 by Ernst Haeckel, who stated that, there is no doubt that the course and character of the feared European War ... will become the First World War in the full sense of the word. It was also known as the Great War. This means a global war centered in Europe that began on July 28, 1914 and lasted until November 11, 1918. More than 9 million combatants and 7 million civilians died as a result of the war. This rate was given by the belligerents technological and industrial sophistication, and tactical stalemate. It was one of the dea dliest conflicts in history, paving the way for major political changes, including revolutions in many of the nations involved. In January 1917, Germany resumed unrestricted submarine warfare, realizing it would mean American entry. They decided to invite Mexico to join the war against the United States. In return, the Germans would finance Mexico s war and help it recover the territories of Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona.
